Weekend Maintenance Associate, Part Time
- Saturday Noon-6:30 pm and Sunday Noon-6:30 pm (hours may vary depending on special events, meetings and facility needs)
- Under the supervision of the Facilities Director, the Maintenance Associate is responsible for performing duties related to facility maintenance, building repairs, housekeeping, and landscaping for Middle Tyger Family YMCA.
- Essential Functions:
- Provides excellent service and maintains positive relations with members, guests, program participants, and co-workers in the Y.
- Performs basic building and equipment maintenance repairs and upgrades.
- Performs landscaping and grounds duties to provide a safe and presentable property.
- Performs cleaning tasks to ensure effective housekeeping of the facility to ensure member satisfaction.
- Reports unusual conditions and/or foreseeable problems to management.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Ensure high-risk areas (locker rooms, bathrooms, basketball gym) are routinely monitored.
- May be responsible for opening/closing the building.
- Performs washing and drying towels, filling soaps, paper towels, toilet paper, etc., wet and dust mopping, dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, and window cleaning.
- Records and reports all needed repairs; repair as directed.
- Ensures YMCA building and property are secure during shift and reports incidents and hazardous conditions.
- Up to 20 hours per week
- Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age with one year or more of related experience; preferred.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas.
- Ability to work constantly throughout the shift.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
- Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
- Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
- Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Physical Demands:
- Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
- Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 10 feet.
- Ability to work with cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, paint, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
- Ability to clean various areas, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
- Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
- Ability to assist in essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but is not limited to the following activities: semi to full-reaching overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
